mix pineapple juice and banana liqueur together in a shaker tin. Add to collins glass filled w/ ice, then top with malibu. Garnish w/ pineapple flag try a frozen version, where the banana liqueur and pineapple juice are blended with crushed ice. also tastes nice with the addition of another fruity liqueur, for example, midori!!
There are several cocktails with the same name it seems. One particular Tetanus Shot is all but a Word Play of the popular Rusty Nail cocktail and has the same ingredients. While another is a robust flavourful cocktail of Brandy Cherry, Peach Schnapps and Whisky Cream.
The one we have here is a complete deviation from the general Whisky or Whisky Cream base and is a Malibu Liqueur and Cru00e8me de Banane Liqueur cocktail of a completely different nature.
A note on which one is the most original and authentic of these three is requested, post a comment if you are an expert or are a cocktail afficionado at heart.
Malibu
Malibu is promoted as a Rum or a flavoured Rum, and is one of the most famous flavoured Rums available, but in technical terms, Malibu is not a Coconut Rum, it is a coconut flavoured liqueur with a Caribbean Rum base, and it comes with an alcohol content as low as 21% ABV.
The original Malibu is a coconut liqueur with Caribbean Rum, but there are other variations with tropical fruit flavours like Banana, Passion Fruit, Mango, Pineapple and Melon.
Malibu was originally created by Tom Jago of International Distillers & Vintners, and was made from fruit spirits, flavored with rum and coconut flavoring, in Curaçao. Originally intended to simplify the mixing if Pina Colada but the drink became popular and the production was moved to Barbados and was improved upon.Pineapple Juice
Rich in antioxidants, this juice pressed from the pulp of the Pineapple is a good protection against cell degeneration, It contains bromelain, a group of enzymes known to reduce inflammation, improve digestion and boost immunity. In drink mixing, there is nothing like the tropical flavour of pineapple juice to add that tropical freshness and nuance to a cocktail.
In drink mixing pineapple having a fruity tropical aroma pineapple juice is a good companion for tropical fruits such as mango, banana, passion fruit, and also pairs well with oranges and grapefruit juice.Pineapple juice is the juice pressed out of the pulp of the pineapple fruit, several varieties of pineapple are used to manufacture commercial pineapple juice. High on Vitamin C and enzymes that have been shown to activate healthy immune response, it’s a good juice to start a day. The enzyme bromelain in pineapple juice, triggers analgesic response in the body to fight pain and reduce swelling. In cocktails, Pineapple juice goes best with Vodka and is often a regular juice in many Vodka cocktails.
Creme De Banane
Crème de Banane is a banana flavoured liqueur bottled at 17–25% Alcohol by Volume. it is mostly used in alcoholic beverages, in cocktails and in cooking and as dessert dressing too.
Crème de Banane, are based on neutral alcohol distilled from beet root and flavoured with an extract made from both a distillation and infusion of bananas, and sweetened with sugar.
Note: If a Creme de Banane liquor is not available a Creme de Banane Syrup can be used as a replacement too.
