Why do we call a mixed drink a cocktail?

The first relates to cocking up poor quality booze with herbs, bitters and mixes, as Cocktail historian David Wondrich writes “if you had an old horse you were trying to sell, you would put some ginger up it’s butt, and it would cock it’s tail up and be frisky. That was known as cock-tail.”
The second theory states that in an Mexican tavern, English sailors noticed that mixed drinks were stirred with the root of a plant known as cola de gallo, or cock's tail in English. The name came to England with the sailors and then to the USA.

Mix the 4 first ingredients in a shot glass, then splash with Midori and top with Alize.
Alize Gold Passion
Alizé is a brand of alcoholic drinks produced in several varieties that can be consumed neat or can be used in mixed drinks.
The line consists of eight vodka-based liqueurs,which are 16% alcohol (32 proof). The products are Alizé Gold Passion, Red Passion, Bleu Passion, Peach, Apple, Pink Passion, Pineapple, and Mango. Each of these liqueurs is a blend of French vodka, passion fruit juice, and other exotic fruit juices. - Alize.com and WikipediaMidori
Midori is a sweet, bright green coloured, muskmelon flavoured liqueur produced by Suntory, a Japanese multinational brewing and distilling company.
Midori is typically 20% to 21% Alcohol by Volume, and is extremely sweet to drink straight, and is thus usually used in cocktails.
Sours are often combined with Midori to balance out its sweetness.
Midori mixed with Vodka and 7-Up makes a cocktail that tastes similar to Mountain Dew.Cherry Liqueur
Cherry Liqueur is a sweetened liqueur made from different spirit bases of which Brandy is the most common base for macerating and infusing cherry and making the liqueur, and that is why cherry liqueur is often called Cherry Brandy.
Note that there's Kirsch or Kirschwasser, an unsweetened eau de vie distilled from cherries, and it is often called cherry brandy too. But you can't use Kirsch and Cherry Liqueur interchangeably since the liqueur is sweet and the other is not.
One of the most known Cherry Liqueur is Maraschino Cherry Liqueur, made from Marasca cherries.Bacardi Limon
Bacardi Limon Rum is a Citrus Rum, Bacardi introduced it in 1995 and Bacardi Limon Original Citrus Rum is their first ever flavoured Rum. Bacardi Limon is a blend of Bacardi White Rum infused with a delectable combination of natural lemon, lime and grapefruit, the name Limon is the French for Lemon.
People often confuse it with a flavoured Vodka, but it's pure Rum.Creme De Banane
Crème de Banane is a banana flavoured liqueur bottled at 17–25% Alcohol by Volume. it is mostly used in alcoholic beverages, in cocktails and in cooking and as dessert dressing too.
Crème de Banane, are based on neutral alcohol distilled from beet root and flavoured with an extract made from both a distillation and infusion of bananas, and sweetened with sugar.
Note: If a Creme de Banane liquor is not available a Creme de Banane Syrup can be used as a replacement too.Vodka

You'll find it to be the most popular spirit in drink making because of it's neutral taste and absence of flavour and colour.
Vodka often replaces Gin in many traditional cocktails
Vodka is known to be good for the heart, and if consumed in moderation, can prove to be good for cardiovascular health
Note that these days there are flavoured Vodka available in the market too, and some cocktails do make use of them.
