Can I layer carbonated ingredients?

MORE

Layering carbonated ingredients can be challenging due to the bubbles. However, you can achieve a layered effect by pouring the carbonated liquid over the back of a spoon very slowly. Note that the layers might not be as distinct as with non-carbonated liquids.

Botched Abortion
botched abortion is a popular Liqueurs,Whisky cocktail containing a combinations of Amaretto Almond Liqueur,Crown Royal Canadian Whisky,Kahlua Coffee Liqueur .Served using Shot glass
Despite the highly inappropriate name, this shooter actually combines sweet nutty coffee and vanilla flavors for a rather delightful pairing. Hazelnut amaretto forms the base, lending its distinct almond and cherry pit essence. Viscosity helps it sink to the bottom. Next comes smooth Canadian whisky, contributing subtle oak and caramel notes in the middle layer. Finally a float of Kahlua tops it off with a roasted coffee aroma. Pour carefully over an upside down spoon to keep the layers separate. Shoot fast to taste individually or let mingle into a creamy Irish coffee-like effect. The contrast of bitter coffee and sweet nut makes for a nicely balanced flavor experience. Just don`t let the cheeky name deter you from trying!

  • Amaretto Almond Liqueur

Amaretto is a liqueur, a sweet Italian liqueur that originated in Saronno. There are different brands and each have their slight variations and ingredients vary from apricot kernel, bitter almonds, peach stones or almonds, all these are natural sources of the benzaldehyde that brings the almond flavour to the liqueur. Amaretto usually contains a 21% to 48% Alcohol by Volume.

Amaretto liqueur can be drunk straight or used as an ingredient in mixed drinks, or with coffee.

The name Amaretto originated from the Italian word amaro, meaning bitter. Amaretto's bitterness is derived from the drupe kernel and although the bitterness of Amaretto tends to be mild, sweeteners and at time sweet almonds are added to enhance the flavour of the final product.

  • Crown Royal Canadian Whisky

Canadian Whisky is a blended multi grain liquor in which corn spirits are in a higher percentage over other grain spirits, and the whisky is lighter and smoother than other types of whiskies.

Canadian corn whisky uses some rye grain added to the mash to give it more flavour and this characteristic style and flavour gave Canadian Whisky the name Canadian Rye Whisky or simply Rye Whisky.

Canadian standards stipulates a minimum 3 years of aging in wood vessels and 40% ABV, and must be mashed, fermented and distilled in Canada.

  • Kahlua Coffee Liqueur

Coffee liqueur is a liqueur produced by steeping roasted coffee, sugar and other ingredients in neutral spirit. The most famous coffee liqueur brands are Kahlua and Tia Maria, Kahlua has been made in Mexico since 1936.

However Kahlua has a thick buttery taste, that doesn't always appeal to the preferences of an alcoholic beverage lover. Which is why many people enjoy coffee liqueur made using their own home recipes.

Typical ingredients of coffee liqueur include liquor, espresso coffee, roasted coffee bean (and powder), sugar, and vanilla syrup.

The characteristic flavor of coffee along with over a couple of hundreds compounds contribute to the taste of coffee liqueur. Caffeine is a major ingredient of coffee, and also might be a taste factor that influences the complex flavour profile that appeal to coffee liqueur drinkers' palate. NOTE: In the absence of a Coffee Liqueur like Kahlua or Tia Maria, to make cocktails with Coffee Liqueur, Coffee Liqueur Syrup can be used as a substitute with the proportionate alcohol substituted with a triple distilled neutral Vodka.
