Warm up on chilly nights with this deliciously heated twist on a Scotch Old Fashioned. Smokey Scotch whisky provides a rich spirit base, accented by a touch of fresh lime juice. Stir in a spoonful of honey - the viscosity helps incorporate it. Pour everything into a heat-proof shot glass and gently warm in the oven at low temp. Then comes the fun part - float a layer of honey-infused Drambuie liqueur on top. The densities keep it layered. Stir gently before sipping to experience the interplay of flavors. The honey`s richness perfectly complements the herbal Drambuie and smoky Scotch. Sip this Ab Fab creation fireside while bundled in a blanket. Mix the scotch honey and limejuice in a cup then add drambuie warmed gently in a shot glass in the oven. Stir and serve while warm

  • Honey

    Honey is a viscous, sweet liquid made by honey bees and some other bees, from sugary secretion of plants, nectar, that they bring back to their honeycombs in the nest and regurgitates into the cells for preservation, enzymatic reactions turn these flower nectar into honey.
    Honey is resplendent with micronutrients and have loads of antioxidants, as well as antibacterial and antifungal agents in it. Health benefits of honey are innumerous but without getting into that, let's focus on why honey is a preferred sweetner in drink mixing.
    Honey has a sweetness factor of 1 which is as sweet as the table salt Sucrose, but honey's thickness, and depth of flavour stand uop against other ingredients, where as simple syrup or agave nectar often are overwhelmed by the flavour of other ingredients. To top that honey adds viscosity to drinks giving it a different and luxurious texture.

  • Drambuie

    Drambuie is a liqueur made from Scotch Whisky, heather honey, herbs and spices. It is a Golden liqueur with 40% ABV. Drambuie is sweet and complex, the liqueur has a smooth taste, with a distinctive taste of spiced honey, and with notes of anise, orange peel and oak.

    The origin of Drambuie can be traced to a secret recipe created for Bonnie Prince Charlie by his Royal Apothecary in the 18th Century.

  • Whiskey

    Whisky or Whiskey is a distilled alcohol, characterised by the process of distillation of the fermented malted and un-malted grain mash.

    Different grains that can be malted are used for different varieties, grains like barley, corn, rye and wheat are the most commonly used . The distilled liquor is aged in wooden casks, often in old aged sherry casks or casks made of charred white oak.

    For several reasons, historical, trade and linguistic, Whisky is those that have been produced in Scotland, Canada, Australia or Japan, while Whiskey are those that have been produced in Ireland or America, it's Whiskey

  • Lime Juice

    Lime Juice being rich in Vitamin C is an excellent remedy for sore throat and aids in digestion and controls blood sugar, and also promoted weight loss. It is used for various culinary and non-culinary purposes all over the world. Lime juice is known to reduce or even reverse the effects of excessive alcohol consumption and intoxication.
    The difference between Lime Juice and Lemon Juice is that although the sweet and sour Lemon and the bitter and sour Lime are two different fruits, they have similar properties and tastes similar too, the Lime, unlike the sweet and large Lemon, is used raw and is usually plucked green and has more bitterness and sourness in it's taste, and is grown better in tropical and sub-tropical climates.
    In drink mixing, fresh lemon juice brings a tangy zing to so many classic drinks and in fact, it's the most used ingredient in drink mixing other than the liquors of course.
