NOTE: There is another recipe with the same name that although doesn't use the Estonian liqueur Vana Tallin but still has an unique taste that evokes passion and erotic intent. This cocktail is a blend of Malibu Coconut Rum, White Rum, Amaretto Almond Liqueur, Peach Schnapps, Cranberry Juice, Pineapple Juice and Orange Juice and the blend of coconut rum, amaretto and peach schnapps give this cocktail a sweet, tropical and exotic flavour profile that is no less than a combination of eroticism and passion.

There are several other variations of this cocktail with the Hawaiian version going one step forward and making it more tiki and Hawaiian by mixing Absolut Citron with the Midori Melon Liqueur and all of them are quite interesting to try.

  • Midori Melon Liqueur

A liqueur is an alcoholic beverage made mostly from rectified neutral spirits flavoured with sugar, fruits, herbs and spices. Liqueurs are often served as aperitif or digestif or used as bitters, and some are ceremonial or have regional cultural significance.
Most liqueur recipes that date back to the medieval or early modern era tend to have secret recipes and legends following them trough centuries. Liqueurs mostly began in the laboratories of pharmacists as medicines or at homes as ways of preserving seasonal fruits, or were created by monks in their monasteries. and then took off as fragrant, flavourful liqueurs, either filtered to be clear or cloudy.
Liqueurs are created by infusing or macerating fruits and herbs in neutral grain spirit, brandy base like cognac, rum, vodka or even whisky and then filtering the infused alcohol to produce the unique sweet beverage.

Sloe Gin is not a Gin, it's a British liqueur made with gin and sloes. Sloes are Plum like fruits which are traditionally picked after the first frost of winter in late October, pricked traditionally with a thorn from the blackthorn bush on which sloes grow, then put in a jar with sugar and gin and steeped for at least three months while turning the jar every day initially, then every week until ready.

The liqueur is then decanted carefully to eliminate all sediments and a clear red liqueur is left. Sloe Gin is 15% to 30% ABV. EU established standard requires a minimum of 25% ABV for the liqueur to be recognised as a Sloe Gin.

Sloe Gin is the only non-Gin product that is still legally allowed to be called a Gin, despite the fact that it is a Gin based liqueur and is often even made with neutral grain spirits in place of Gin.
