Highball glass 1/2 full ice. Add Vodka and schnapps. Fill to near top with OJ, amount depends on ice and glass size. Add cream last and stir. May be served up after mixing. The amount of OJ and dairy cream may be adjusted to taste.
Sex on the Beach and it's numerous variations are a group of very popular cocktails and, the original Sex on the Beach is an International Bartenders Association Official Cocktail.
It is one of those cocktails that owns an Wikipedia Page of it's own.
Sex on the Beach is usually served over ice in a high ball glass, but they are also served as shooters.
As found in Wikipedia, the alcohol-free or mocktail variation is sometimes referred to as "Safe Sex on the Beach," "Cuddles on the Beach," or "Virgin(s) on the Beach".
However, no reference to why this cocktail named Sex on the Beach of all things, was not to be found, as expected, and probably, this is yet another loose reference to sex as most adult themed drinks are.
Absolut Citron Vodka
Absolut Citron Vodka is one of the main flavour variants of Absolut Vodka. Citron means lemon in Swedish, Absolut Citron is crafted from Swedish Winter wheat and water from a deep well in Ahus, the vodka is flavoured with citrus fruits.
It is a 40% ABV Vodka made from natural ingredients and no sugar is added to the pure Vodka during the flavour infusion, the taste is thus smooth and mellow, with a fresh lemon and lime flavour with a lemon peel note.Strawberry Schnapps
Schnapps is an alcoholic beverage that has no single form, it is in general a grain spirit that has a fruity, spicy and herbal flavour in it. It can thus be created the way liqueurs are created by steeping botanicals in grain spirits and filtering, or like a brandy be distilled from a fruity wine, or even simple infusion of botanicals, syrups or even artificial flavouring agents in a neutral spirit.
Schnapps are typically raspberry, apple, pear, plum, peach, cherry or appricot flavoured.
In Europe Schnapps usually takes the form of an Obstler or Obstbrand, which are traditionally made by fermenting macerated fruit and then distilling the fermented liquor in a process akin to the process of making a brandy.
Obstler ( the German for Fruit, Obst ) has similarity with several verities of Rakija of the Balkans and Easter Europe.
The other form that a Schnapps can take in Europe is a Geist. Geist is created by steeping and infusing berries into neutral spirits for weeks and then distilling it. This too is pretty similar to a fruit brandy.
The third form a Schnapps takes is of a liqueur, these are created the same way all liqueurs are created by infusing fruits, berries and herbs in neutral spirits and filtering the product into a clear liquid.
In America, Schnapps take the form of an inexpensive, heavily sweetened liqueur. American Schnapps are typically between 15% and 20% ABV (30–40 proof), while European Schnapps are usually 30% to 40% ABV or 60-80 US proof.Orange Juice
Orange Juice is an excellent source of Vitamin C, one cup contains twice the daily recommended value. Vitamin C supports the immune system and helps fighting the common cold. The folate in Orange juice supports healthy fetal development. It is low calory and thus is already a qualified alternative to cola fizz in your cocktail if you want to keep your drinks acceptably healthy.
Orange Juice being citrus and naturally sweet and sour, it literally goes with almost any liquor, and of course Vodka being neutral, the best known pairing is with Vodka. But goes well with Dark Rum too, and you get the Planter's Punch, mix it with Champagne and you have made a mimosa, or with tequila to make a tequila sunrise.Cream
Cream can be used to make a creamy cocktail, but when you make a cream cocktail make sure you whip and make your own version. You can also go for a heavy whipped cream which is thicker than regular cream and milk fat can be between 30%-40%.
For a rich and creamy cocktail recipe, combine heavy cream with one shot of alcohol and powdered sugar, then whip it until soft peaks form for a fluffy consistency or you can use it as a loose cream.
