Rim Job Recipe

Place a shot glass in the freezer and let sit till frosty. When it comes time to make the drink, remove it from the freezer. Next combine salt, scotch and Vodka in glass. Stir until well mixed. Add the heavy and Irish creams to the mixture, stirring until they are partially mixed (you can see swirls). Wet the glass' rim and line in it with crystalline sugar. To drink: Till your head back and lick the sugar in a single swoop. Then enjoy in the drink in a single gulp.

No, don't go by the name, it has nothing to do with that, it's just a clever misnomer, to make the Rim Job Cocktail sound more like an affair without the tail in a cocktail.

But in reality, it has got a lot more to do with using the head, so you could think it to be a head job too ;)

Traditionally Rimming a Glass is a clever way of complementing or offsetting a striking taste with a distinct dash of the opposing taste and that's why to contrast the distinctive sweetness of a Margarita a Rim Job of salt is used.

The same technique is used to contrast different flavours and tastes and here in the Rim Job cocktail, a salty creamy flavour is contrasted by the crystalline sugar on the rim of the glass.

But beware, if done wrong, a Rim Job can ruin a cocktail, for example, people usually think wetting and dipping a glass in salt is what it takes to create that striking salt foretaste in a Margarita, but what if the salt goes into the drink and ruin it?

Same is applicable for this Rim Job cocktail and be sure not to put sugar on the inside of the glass. Only the outer rim should be rimmed as is explained here by cocktail legend Dale DeGroff.
