Midori is a sweet, bright green coloured, mask-melon flavoured liqueur produced originally only in Japan until 1987. now it is manufactured in Japan, the United States, Mexico, and France.

It is very sweet and is not drunk straight as such, it is mostly used in cocktails, and sour flavours are often used to balance it's sweetness. Midori, for example, can be mixed with Vodka and 7 Up or Sprite and the cocktail tastes like Mountain Dew.

See where we are leading to? Now why Collins?

By definition - A Collins is basically a sour cocktail made using a base spirit (most usually gin), lemon juice, sugar and carbonated water, served in a long Collins Glass over ice.

So essentially a Midori Collins is a Midori( sweet ) , Vodka and 7 Up or Sprite( mildly sour ) mix for that particular Mountain Dew flavour and when you add a sweet and sour mix or just a sour mix to it, it becomes a Collins.

Although, arguably since 7Up/Sprite are lime flavoured, the mix already qualifies as a Collins, but here we add a sour mix or Schnapps for particular flavours and make it more Collins than a Collins can be.

  • Midori Liqueur

A liqueur is an alcoholic beverage made mostly from rectified neutral spirits flavoured with sugar, fruits, herbs and spices. Liqueurs are often served as aperitif or digestif or used as bitters, and some are ceremonial or have regional cultural significance.
Most liqueur recipes that date back to the medieval or early modern era tend to have secret recipes and legends following them trough centuries. Liqueurs mostly began in the laboratories of pharmacists as medicines or at homes as ways of preserving seasonal fruits, or were created by monks in their monasteries. and then took off as fragrant, flavourful liqueurs, either filtered to be clear or cloudy.
Liqueurs are created by infusing or macerating fruits and herbs in neutral grain spirit, brandy base like cognac, rum, vodka or even whisky and then filtering the infused alcohol to produce the unique sweet beverage.
