The Sazerac is a cocktail that was invented in New Orleans in the early 19th century. It is made with Cognac or rye whiskey ,absinthe bitters and sugar. The original recipe called for Peychaud\'s bitters which are made in New Orleans.

The Sazerac is the official cocktail of the city of New Orleans and it is also one of the oldest cocktails in the world. It is believed to have been invented sometime between 1838 and 1841 by Antoine Peychaud a Creole apothecary who owned a pharmacy on Royal Street in New Orleans. Peychaud\'s bitters were originally used as a medicinal tonic but they quickly became popular as an ingredient in cocktails.

Lips of Myristica Recipe


Handle the nutmeg nuts first. Take at least 4-5 nutmeg nuts and crush them up at much as possible. Some advice would be using a food processor or maybe smashing them up with something around the kitchen. After the nutmegs are smashed up, put them in a blender (or whatever you prefer). Then put 3 shots of Vodka in there to take out the nutmeg's flavor. Any hard liquor does the trick. Blend or shake till all is mixed well. Add in the ginger ale as much to your liking. Around 2 cups should do the trick, maybe even more. Add a shot of Malibu to bring a tropical hint. Add a little bit of vanila extract (not important, but is suggested). Stir and mix well, settle down with ice in an old-fashioned glass. If for some reason the nutmeg is still chunky, just consume it. It's fine.

  • Malibu Passion Fruit Rum

    Malibu is promoted as a Rum or a flavoured Rum, and is one of the most famous flavoured Rums available, but in technical terms, Malibu is not a Coconut Rum, it is a coconut flavoured liqueur with a Caribbean Rum base, and it comes with an alcohol content as low as 21% ABV.

    The original Malibu is a coconut liqueur with Caribbean Rum, but there are other variations with tropical fruit flavours like Banana, Passion Fruit, Mango, Pineapple and Melon.

    Malibu was originally created by Tom Jago of International Distillers & Vintners, and was made from fruit spirits, flavored with rum and coconut flavoring, in Curaçao. Originally intended to simplify the mixing if Pina Colada but the drink became popular and the production was moved to Barbados and was improved upon.

  • Vanilla Extract

    Vanilla is a spice derived from orchids of the genus Vanilla, the spice is obtained from the pods of the Mexican species of flat leaved Vanilla. The characteristic flavour of Vanilla comes from the aromatic compound Vanillin. Up to 85% of a vanilla essential oil is Vanillin.
    Natural vanilla flavour is in pure form, a little more complex than plain Vanillin, but most of the times the Vanillin is what is needed to release that familiar flavour in a drink.
    Note that when a drink asks for Vanilla extract, it means an extract of real Vanilla from Vanilla pods in an alcoholic suspension and is usually less processes and stronger, while Vanilla Flavour or Vanilla Essence is a processed product made using artificial flavours and colours. While a Vanilla syrup is a sweetened thick condiment with either real organic vanilla flavour or artificial vanilla flavouring.
    The thumbs rule is, if you run out of Vanilla extract, go for Maple syrup as a replacement. Also note that artificial vanilla is strong and artificial vanilla flavour comes from Castoreum, a chemical compound that comes from a beaver's castor sacs, which are located between the pelvis and the base of the tail.

  • Ginger Ale

    Ginger Ale is a non-alcoholic carbonated soft drink with a distinct ginger flavour. it is drank on its own and as a mixer. There are two types of Ginger Ale, the classic Golden developed by Irish Doctor Thomas Joseph Cantrell, and the dry pale style with milder flavours. by John McLaughlin of Canada.

    Traditional Ginger Ale is fermented using ginger, yeast (or ginger bug), water, sugar and other flavourings. Sugar is added to speed up fermentation since Ginger's sugar content is lower than needed for fermentation. In classic Ginger Ale the carbonation is not artificial but comes from the fermentation of sugar by yeast into ethanol and carbon dioxide.
