Licorice Mist

Did you know that a "Stiff Drink" is originally stuff that horror stories are made of?

MORE

In early 19th Century America, whiskey was served straight from barrels and these barrels of low quality hooch was also used by grave diggers to store and transport stolen bodies, since the alcohol prevented the bodies from rotting, and could pass off as barrels of whiskey in transport,

The worst part is, once the bodies were transported over the newly laid railroad and were off loaded at the laboratories, the thieves wouldn't discard the whiskey and would sell it to unsuspecting customers. These were called Stiff Drinks.

  • Sambuca

Sambuca is an anise flavoured Italian liqueur, it is a colourless liqueur in pure form but there are Black Sambuca ( deep blue colour ) or Red Sambuca ( bright red in colour ), thus the colourless liqueur is distinguised as White Sambuca.

Sambuca is a minimum of 38% Alcohol by Volume, and is created by adding essential oils of star enise, or less commonly green anise, elderflower, liquorice and other herbs as per recipe of the producer, to pure alcohol and a concentrated solution of sugar.

Sambuca is served neat, on the rocks or with water. In Italian tradition, Sambuca may be consumed after coffee as an Ammazzacaffè, which is a small glass of liqueur usually consumed after coffee to dull its taste or the caffeine effect. It is a common Italian custom, especially after a generous festive meal.

Note: If a bottle of Sambuca is not what you are looking to buy, get some Anise Oil ( Green Anise ) and Anise Extract ( Star Anise ) and some Licorice Root Sticks and steep them in a Neutral Spirit like Vodka for a few days and follow available home made Sambuca recipes to create your own Sambuca for party days.

  • Coconut Liqueur

Coconut Liqueur is a coconut flavoured liqueur, usually sweet and syrupy,

Malibu is a coconut liqueur made from Caribbean Rum but most coconut liqueurs are usually neutral spirits with coconut flavourings and sugar, where as a real Coconut Rum would not be a spirit with flavourings but rather a Rum that has been distilled from a coconut fermentation along with sugarcane.

While Malibu at a weak 21% ABV is a coconut liqueur a good example of a Coconut Rum would be Ko?loa Kaua’i Coconut Rum with a 40% ABV that is required to be considered as a Rum, this award-winning coconut rum is produced from steam-powered, copper pot distilled sugarcane combined with young coconut, toasted coconut, and cocoa flavors.

  • Light Cream

Cream can be used to make a creamy cocktail, but when you make a cream cocktail make sure you whip and make your own version. You can also go for a heavy whipped cream which is thicker than regular cream and milk fat can be between 30%-40%.
For a rich and creamy cocktail recipe, combine heavy cream with one shot of alcohol and powdered sugar, then whip it until soft peaks form for a fluffy consistency or you can use it as a loose cream.
