  • Absolut Vanilla

Vanilla is a spice derived from orchids of the genus Vanilla, the spice is obtained from the pods of the Mexican species of flat leaved Vanilla. The characteristic flavour of Vanilla comes from the aromatic compound Vanillin. Up to 85% of a vanilla essential oil is Vanillin.
Natural vanilla flavour is in pure form, a little more complex than plain Vanillin, but most of the times the Vanillin is what is needed to release that familiar flavour in a drink.
Note that when a drink asks for Vanilla extract, it means an extract of real Vanilla from Vanilla pods in an alcoholic suspension and is usually less processes and stronger, while Vanilla Flavour or Vanilla Essence is a processed product made using artificial flavours and colours. While a Vanilla syrup is a sweetened thick condiment with either real organic vanilla flavour or artificial vanilla flavouring.
The thumbs rule is, if you run out of Vanilla extract, go for Maple syrup as a replacement. Also note that artificial vanilla is strong and artificial vanilla flavour comes from Castoreum, a chemical compound that comes from a beaver's castor sacs, which are located between the pelvis and the base of the tail.

  • Coconut Syrup

Coconut Syrup is not Cream of Coconut, it's a syrup made from coconut flavour extracts and can be used as an alternative of coconut cream in trpical drinks where the milky thickness of the cocnut cream or coconut milk is not required.

  • Blue Curacao

Curaçao is a liqueur flavored with the dried peel of the bitter orange laraha. It's been a popular liqueur for more than 150 years, the Dutch East India Company created this orange liqueurs by steeping orange peels in alcohol from the island of Curaçao and called it Curaçao liquor, unlike Triple Sec, Curacao has added spices and herbs to the orange and Curaçao comes in a variety of colours such as clear, orange or blue.

Blue Curaçao being the most used of them, in cocktails. Although Curacao is an orange tinted liquor, Blue Curacao is a regular Curacao dyed bright blue to give it a striking appearance, and thus is a very popular cocktail mixer, whenever a striking colour is desired.

Blue Curacao is usually around 25% ABV.

Blue Curacao is essentially Orange Liqueur tinted Blue, the colour doesn't influence the taste and thus Orange Curacao is interchangeable with Blue Curacao in recipes, if the colour is not important in the appearance.

NOTE: Blue Curacao being an Orange Flavoured Blue Liqueur, it's primary purpose in a cocktail is introducing the Orange flavour and the striking sky blue to the drink, so, if a bottle of Blue Curacao liqueur is something you are not planning to buy right now, you can manage with the Blue Curacao Syrup.
It would add the same flavour and colour profile to the cocktail, all we need to do is simply count for the alcohol absent in the syrup and account for it.

  • Multivitamin Juice

Multivitamin juices are reconstituted juice with apple, orange, white grape, apricot, peach, pear, mango, passionfruit and lemon fortified with Vitamin C. Citric Acid, Vitamin A, Folic Acid and natural flavours.

  • Tonic Water

Tonic Water originated in India when quinine was recommended to British officials and soldiers as a prophylactic against Malaria, quinine was mixed with soda to make it palatable, and since the British soldiers already received a ration of Gin, Gin and Tonic was born when Tonic Water was mixed with Gin and some sugar to make the medicine enjoyable.
Modern commercial tonic water produced for causal mixing in cocktails contains very little quinine and has citrus flavour additions and additional sugar or corn syrup for a better taste.

Blue Tick Project:We aim at manually validating and verifying each cocktail in their current context and mark them as valid, where, a blue tick would mean that the recipe has been verified and is 100% accurate while an orange tick would mean the recipe has low confidence.
Where as a grey tick would mean that the recipe has not yet been manually validated or verified recently.
