Tequila Poppers Recipe

Add half tequila, half 7-Up to a shot glass. Put your hand (or a napkin) over the top, pick it up and slam it on the table. Drink quickly while it bubbles!

Tequila Popper is one of those cocktails that are probably bigger than Hollywood celebrities!

A cocktail with it's own Wikipedia page or a Wikihow page, and an iconic status in cinema and literature, for it's so common that you can't deny it, and we all knew how to drink it before we drank it.

Tequila Popper is a simple tequila and a lime-lemon soda pop mix, and is very commonly drank with 7Up and it's likes.

The most interesting but the most common part of this cocktail is in it's name. Well, just mixing the tequila with a soda pop doesn't suffice, the trick is yo slam the shot glass on the table before you drink it as fast as you can.

There is a reason behind this slamming of the glass on the table though, the slamming action makes the soda ( specifically, aerated lime drink of any kind ) bubbles rise and make the drink even more potent.

Beware, although you slam the shot glass on the table, this is not a tequila slammer, that is one another even more popular cocktail you know since you were born.

Remember that scene from some movie? The hero licks the back of his hand, gulps down something adult from a small glass? and then ridiculously bites into a slice of lemon as if his life depended on it? Yes that's the Tequila Slammer.

Tequila is a distilled beverage, made only from a specific cultivar of Agave Tequilana called \'Weber Azul\' or Blue Agave, native to the states of Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit and Aguascalientes in Mexico. The Blue Agave grows above an altitude of 1500 m and are juicy succulents with spiky fleshy leaves.

Tequila is made around the city of Tequila 40 miles northwest of Guadaljara, and in the Jaliscan Highlands of Central Western Mexico. Mexican laws state that Tequila can only be produces in the state of Jalisco and a few limited municipalities in the other Blue Agave growing regions.

Tequila is 35% to 55% Alcohol by Volume (70 and 110 U.S. proof), it must be at least 40% ABV to be sold as Tequila in the USA.

Tequila is a distilled derivative of the pre-Columbian fermented beverage called pulque, made from the Agave plant. When the Spanish conquistadors ran out of their brandy, they started distilling Agave to produce a distilled spirit. This by 1600s was what Don Pedro Sánchez de Tagle, the Marquis of Altamira, began mass-producing in his distillery near modern day Jalisco and came to be known as Tequila.
