Handle the disorienting Head Butt shot with care and respect. Dark rum and Irish cream liqueur provide a soothing base, while peppermint schnapps adds icy menthol freshness. The chocolate and cool mint flavors meld deliciously. But at 90 proof, its effects are dizzying. Slam it fast to minimize the burn...then brace yourself! The room may spin and your legs turn wobbly. Sip slowly or share between friends to stay upright. However you take it, the Head Butt demands your attention...and cautious enjoyment.

Head Butt Recipe

Mix in a double shot glass. I usually use a little less rum and a little more Irish cream, and only high quality stuff, or it tastes funny. This drink tastes like a chocolate mint, and it catches up with you fast!

  • Dark Rum

Dark Rums have molasses as their main ingredient, the dark liquor has a full bodied flavour of spices and caramel and is a favourite drink with Cola and is part of so many cocktails.

The term Dark Rum is not a legal definition but it generally refers to any rum that is dark brown in appearance due to ageing or from additional molasses or caramel.

The colour of Dark Rum varies from Gold to Black, depending on the years of ageing in the vat.

  • Irish Cream

Cream can be used to make a creamy cocktail, but when you make a cream cocktail make sure you whip and make your own version. You can also go for a heavy whipped cream which is thicker than regular cream and milk fat can be between 30%-40%.
For a rich and creamy cocktail recipe, combine heavy cream with one shot of alcohol and powdered sugar, then whip it until soft peaks form for a fluffy consistency or you can use it as a loose cream.

  • Peppermint Schnapps

Peppermint Schnapps is a clear spirit that tastes like liquid candy cane with astringent, mouth wash like after taste. It is created by adding peppermint flavour to a clear grain spirit and is usually 15% Alcohol by Volume.

In the US it is popular around the holidays, as shots or in creamy sweet cocktails. Peppermint Schnapps is produced by many brands and in different qualities. A regular brand is DeKupyer, while Rumple Minze or Dr. McGillicuddy’s Mint Schnapps are better quality versions of the same.

For those who want a better experience than this mint spirit that has an astringent feel, Creme de Menthe is a smoother alternative.
