A snakebite drink is a mixed alcoholic beverage typically made with equal parts lager and cider. The name is derived from the fact that the drink is often served with a lemon slice which resembles a snake. Snakebite drinks are popular in the United Kingdom Ireland and Australia.

In UK. If a dash of black currant cordial is added to the drink it’s called “snake bite & black” or “diesel”.

The American version of Snake Bite often uses stout instead of lager. Snake Bite is a popular drink among heavy metal fans and some universities have different nicknames for it. At Warwick University they call it a Purple at the University of East Anglia they call it a Snakey B and at the University of Loughborough they call it a Nasty.

There is a popular urban legend that claims selling snake bite in the UK is illegal. This is not true however.

  • Butterscotch Schnapps

    Schnapps is an alcoholic beverage that can be a distilled fruit brandy, a herbal liqueur, infusions and flavoured liqueurs, made by infusing fruit syrups, spices or artificial flavourings to a neutral grain spirit.

    Schnapps in German means a strong alcoholic drink and it's usually a 60-80 proof (30% - 40% ABV) beverage.

    Butterscotch Schnapps is a Schanpps made by infusing butter and brown sugar in grain spirit, and is designed to taste just like butterscotch caramels and are used in creating sweet cocktails and shots. It is usually 30–42 proof (15% – 21% ABV ) and is weaker than other Schnapps.

    The most famous Butterscotch Schnapps is Dekuyper Buttershot Schnapps.

  • Dark Creme De Cacao

    Creme de Cacao is a chocolate liqueur that has probably been produced and sold in France since as early as 1666. In America a Chocolate wine was popular in the 18th Century, it's ingredients included sherry, port, chocolate and sugar.

    A modern recipe for chocolate liqueur at home lists the ingredients as chocolate extract, vanilla extract and simple syrup and in purest form, chocolate liqueur is clear and colours may be added.

    Creme de Cacao can be consumed straight and as an apertif, in cocktails and in desserts, in dessert sauces, cakes and truffles.

  • Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur

    Hazelnut Liqueur is a nutty liqueur produced from hazelnuts macerated in neutral spirits and/or brandy and has a sweet nutty flavour similar to almond flavour liqueurs like Amaretto.

    Frangelico is one of the most renowned Hazelnut Liqueur brands coming out of Italy and the other budget brand is DeKuyper.

  • Vanilla Ice Cream

    Vanilla flavoured ice cream is probably the most common ice cream in North America, Europe and Asia. Vanilla Ice Cream like any other flavoured ice cream, was originally created by cooling a cream, sugar and vanilla mixture over a metal container of ice and salt.
    Vanilla Ice Cream as a cocktail topping is popular and it usually goes well with nutty liqueurs like Amaretto, Frangelico and also is a good choice as a topping for non-tropical fruit based cocktails with neutral spirits.

  • Fresh Milk

    Milk can do wonders to your regular cocktail. For a rich creamy cocktail, milk does wonder .You may argue that milk as it is made of fat, and being low in acid, will easily curdle if its mixed with alcohol.
    Best way to get a rich and creamy cocktail is to use bourbon, milk will soften its whiskey flavour. If you are looking for some spicier yet creamy cocktail go for Scotch with milk cocktails, they'll surely set you holiday mood.
