A hearty pour of blended scotch or bourbon provides a solid base of oak and vanilla. Dark creme de cacao offers a luscious chocolate intensity, while white creme de cacao lightens it with subtle hints of vanilla. The ingredients are combined in a mixing glass filled with ice and gently stirred to integrate and slightly dilute the spirits. Strained into a chilled cocktail glass.     Blending whiskey is a commercial venture to make rare whiskey more accessible by adding cheaper grain spirits with minimum ageing life with aged straight or single malt whiskey in a way that the qualities and flavours of the single malt can be enjoyed to an extent while not having to pay the premium price of a Single Malt Straight Whiskey.

    Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal, Canadian Club, Canadian Mist, Jameson Irish Whiskey are good examples of premium blended whiskey that have crafted a space of their own in the world of a whiskey aficionado.

    Creme de Cacao is a chocolate liqueur that has probably been produced and sold in France since as early as 1666. In America a Chocolate wine was popular in the 18th Century, it's ingredients included sherry, port, chocolate and sugar.

    A modern recipe for chocolate liqueur at home lists the ingredients as chocolate extract, vanilla extract and simple syrup and in purest form, chocolate liqueur is clear and colours may be added.

    Creme de Cacao can be consumed straight and as an apertif, in cocktails and in desserts, in dessert sauces, cakes and truffles.
