Bear Claw

Did you know that a "Stiff Drink" is originally stuff that horror stories are made of?

MORE

In early 19th Century America, whiskey was served straight from barrels and these barrels of low quality hooch was also used by grave diggers to store and transport stolen bodies, since the alcohol prevented the bodies from rotting, and could pass off as barrels of whiskey in transport,

The worst part is, once the bodies were transported over the newly laid railroad and were off loaded at the laboratories, the thieves wouldn't discard the whiskey and would sell it to unsuspecting customers. These were called Stiff Drinks.

Bear Claw Recipe

Fill a pint glass halfway with Guinness stout - In a separate shot glass, combine the Bailey's and Jameson's - Drop the shot glass into the pint of Guinness and chug - Immediately follow with a Jäger Bomb by dropping a shot of Jägermeister into a glass of Red Bull - Drink rapidly to experience the full impact of the Bear Claw's dueling flavors

The bear claw cocktail is a mix of Guinness Stout, Bailey\'s Irish Cream, Jameson\'s Irish Whiskey, Red Bull Energy Drink, and Jagermeister Herbal Liqueur. This drink is perfect for those who enjoy a sweeter drink with a little bit of a bite. The Bailey\'s and Jameson\'s give the drink its characteristic sweetness, while the Guinness provides a deep, roasted flavor. The Red Bull gives the drink a boost of energy, and the Jagermeister provides a herbal liqueur flavor.

A bear claw is also a filled pastry made from a folded circle of dough with slits cut into it, the cocktail probably gets its name from the strength and power symbolised by the bear claw. Surely a double shot of Irish Bomb and Jager Bomb, means a lot of strength.

  • Guinness Stout

Gunniess is an Irish dry stout that was the produce of Arthur Guinness\'s brewery at St. James\'s Gate Dublin, Ireland in 1759. It is the most successful alcohol brand worldwide, Guinness is brewed in almost 50 countries and sold in over 120 countries. Guinness\' unique flavour derives it\'s uniqueness from malted barley and roasted unmalted barley brews, the older recipe was to blend a portion of aged brew with a freshly brewed beer to give it a sharp lactic acid flavour. On another note, a dry stout is a dark, top-fermented beer, and dry stout is one of the few variants of a stout beer. The original reference of stout was of the strength of the beer, and the same dark brown beer in a later period has also been referred to as a porter, and the stronger verities were called "stout porter" and thus the history of a stout and a porter is pretty intertwined. Although today, a stout is strictly a dark beer, strength is not a qualification of a stout anymore. Top fermenting is one of the different beer brewing techniques, in which, the yeast is applied to the top of the wort ( the sugary extract of the malts and other ingredients that the yeast will ferment into a beer ) at a much higher temperature.

  • Jamesons Irish Whiskey

Jamesonis one of the most popular blended Irish Whiskey produced and sold worldwide, by the Irish Distilleries subsidiary of Pernod Ricard. Jameson is on the six main Dublin Whiskeys at the Jameson Distillery Bow St., Jameson is now distilled at the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork -source - Wikipedia

Jameson has an interesting history if we go by the whisky or whiskey first argument, the founder of the distillery John Jameson was originally a lawyer from Alloa, Scotland and previous to establishing the Jameson distillery in Ireland, he married Margaret Haig in 1768, Margaret was the eldest daughter of John Haig, the famous Scottish whisky distiller.

Jameson is produced from a blend of grain whiskey and single pot still whiskey, a single pot still whiskey is a traditional Irish distillation technique of using a mixture of malted and unmalted barley, and Jameson uses the Irish unmalted green barley, all sourced from within a fifty miles of the distillery in Cork.

The barley is dried in a closed kiln fired by natural gas, while anthracite was used previously. This is a distinctive contrast to the use of peat in firing the kiln in Scottish Whisky distillation, which adds a distinctive peat flavour.
