How to Choose the right glassware for Cocktails?
MOREStep 1: Identify the Types of Cocktails You\'ll Be Serving
Determine the types of cocktails you enjoy making. Common categories
include short cocktails, long cocktails, stirred cocktails, and shaken
cocktails.
Step 2: Understand Glassware Types
Familiarize yourself with common glassware types such as rocks glasses,
highball glasses, martini glasses, Collins glasses, coupes, and
snifters.
Step 3: Match Glassware to Cocktail Types
Select glassware based on the characteristics of the cocktails. For
example, use a highball glass for long, refreshing drinks and a martini
glass for elegant, stirred cocktails.
Step 4: Consider Aesthetics
Choose glassware that complements the overall aesthetic of your home
bar. Consistency in style can create a cohesive and visually appealing
presentation.
Step 5: Assess Size and Proportions
Ensure the glass size is appropriate for the drink\'s volume and any
additional ice or garnishes. Proper proportions enhance both the
presentation and taste.
Step 6: Evaluate Glass Thickness
Consider the thickness of the glass. Thicker glass provides durability,
while thinner glass can enhance the drinking experience by allowing you
to feel the temperature of the drink.
Step 7: Build a Versatile Collection
Invest in a versatile collection of glassware that covers a range of
cocktail styles. This allows you to be prepared for various drink
recipes.
Step 8: Pay Attention to Detail
Pay attention
to small details, such as the rim shape and thickness. Glasses with a
thin, smooth rim provide a more enjoyable sipping experience.
Step 9: Mix and Match Thoughtfully
Feel free to mix and match glassware styles, but do so thoughtfully.
Ensure that the glasses still work well together visually and
functionally.
Step 10: Care and Maintenance
Follow
proper care and maintenance guidelines for your glassware. Handwash
delicate glasses, avoid using abrasive materials, and store them in a
safe place to prevent breakage.
Step 11: Enjoy the Experience
Ultimately, the right glassware enhances the enjoyment of your
cocktails. Choose thoughtfully, and appreciate the visual and aromatic
qualities each glass brings to your drinking experience.
Additional Tips for Glassware Selection
Tip 1: Consider the Base Shape
Pay attention to the base shape of the glass. Glasses with a wide base provide stability, which is important for drinks with ice or elaborate garnishes.
Tip 2: Experiment with Stem Heights
Experiment with different stem heights for stemmed glassware. Taller stems can add elegance, while shorter stems may be more practical for storage and stability.
Tip 3: Assess Rim Styles
Different rim styles, such as straight, flared, or rolled, can affect the way you sip your drink. Choose rim styles that enhance the overall drinking experience.
Tip 4: Invest in Durability
Consider the durability of your glassware, especially if you entertain frequently. High-quality, durable glassware can withstand regular use and cleaning.
Tip 5: Create a Theme
Consider creating a theme for your glassware collection. Whether it\'s a cohesive color scheme or a specific design aesthetic, a themed collection can add a curated and stylish touch to your home bar.
Choosing
the right glassware for cocktails is an art that combines practicality
with aesthetics. By understanding the characteristics of different glass
types and considering the specific needs of your favorite cocktails,
you can build a stylish and functional glassware collection for your
home bar. Cheers!

The Orange Fairy Recipe

Red Absinthe
Absinthe is an anise flavoured spirit derived from several plants including grand wormwood. green anise and fennel ,along with other medicinal and culinary herbs. Absinthe is Swiss in origin, and was created in the late 18th Century, it rose to tremendous popularity in the late 19th and early 20th Century among Parisian artists and writers, and became associated with the Bohemian culture and notoriety.
Earnest Hemmingway, James Joyce, Charles Baudelaire, Toulouse-Lautrec, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, Edgar Allan Poe, Lord Byron to name a few celebrated auteurs and thinkers who were Absinthe aficionados and it's needless to say their association took Absinthe to an unprecedented popularity and notoriety at the same time. It also has the reputation of being a psychoactive drug and hallucinogen, although these claims don't have any scientific evidence, resulting in Absinthe ban in USA and Europe for a long period.
Absinthes are of two types, distilled and cold mixed. Distilled Absinthe used a technique similar to Gin where the distillation removes the undesired herbal bitter influences while producing the clear spirit with the desired complexity and aroma retained in it.
Cold mixed Absinthe is produced using the inexpensive process of blending flavouring essencs and artificial colouring in commercial alcohol, just as flavoured Vodka is produced by infusion, it is this Cold Mixed Absinthe that can reach as high as 90% ABV. Beware that due to the lack of Absinthe regulations in many countries. producers falsify advertising claims like, referring to their product as "distilled".Blue Curacao
Curaçao is a liqueur flavored with the dried peel of the bitter orange laraha. It's been a popular liqueur for more than 150 years, the Dutch East India Company created this orange liqueurs by steeping orange peels in alcohol from the island of Curaçao and called it Curaçao liquor, unlike Triple Sec, Curacao has added spices and herbs to the orange and Curaçao comes in a variety of colours such as clear, orange or blue.
Blue Curaçao being the most used of them, in cocktails. Although Curacao is an orange tinted liquor, Blue Curacao is a regular Curacao dyed bright blue to give it a striking appearance, and thus is a very popular cocktail mixer, whenever a striking colour is desired.
Blue Curacao is usually around 25% ABV.
Blue Curacao is essentially Orange Liqueur tinted Blue, the colour doesn't influence the taste and thus Orange Curacao is interchangeable with Blue Curacao in recipes, if the colour is not important in the appearance.
NOTE: Blue Curacao being an Orange Flavoured Blue Liqueur, it's primary purpose in a cocktail is introducing the Orange flavour and the striking sky blue to the drink, so, if a bottle of Blue Curacao liqueur is something you are not planning to buy right now, you can manage with the Blue Curacao Syrup.
It would add the same flavour and colour profile to the cocktail, all we need to do is simply count for the alcohol absent in the syrup and account for it.Lemon Juice
Lemon Juice being rich in Vitamin C is an excellent remedy for sore throat and aids in digestion and controls blood sugar, and also promoted weight loss. It is used for various culinary and non-culinary purposes all over the world. Lemon juice is known to reduce or even reverse the effects of excessive alcohol consumption and intoxication.
In drink mixing, fresh lemon juice brings a tangy zing to so many classic drinks and in fact, it's the most used ingredient in drink mixing other than the liquors of course.Orange Juice
Orange Juice is an excellent source of Vitamin C, one cup contains twice the daily recommended value. Vitamin C supports the immune system and helps fighting the common cold. The folate in Orange juice supports healthy fetal development. It is low calory and thus is already a qualified alternative to cola fizz in your cocktail if you want to keep your drinks acceptably healthy.
Orange Juice being citrus and naturally sweet and sour, it literally goes with almost any liquor, and of course Vodka being neutral, the best known pairing is with Vodka. But goes well with Dark Rum too, and you get the Planter's Punch, mix it with Champagne and you have made a mimosa, or with tequila to make a tequila sunrise.Oranges 1 slice
Ice is so obvious in most drinks, be it a straight drink or a mixed drink, that we often forget it's importance or even reason behind using a crystal clear good quality ice in a glass of whisky, or crushed ice in a tall glass to enjoy a cocktail.
Ice tempers a hard liquor, and as is in the case of whisky for example, if you prefer the flavours of whisky reach your nose without the hard note of spirit lingering around, or want to avoid the mild sting of a neat whisky, a cube of ice mellows the strength down a little and as it melts slowly, the aroma and flavour is released from the whisky slowly and makes whisky progressively weak, lingering and palatable.
Ice in Vodka helps release the little flavour a Vodka has, slowly, instead of letting the Vodka hit your nose all at once,
In mixed drinks, ice plays an important role in creating the perfect temperature a certain drink requires and bartenders use ice in several different ways, crushed ice for long drinks that will allow the cocktail to slowly water down like a Mint Julep, Moscow Mule, Rum Swizzle, Sherry Cobbler and other Tiki drinks, a large block or cubes of ice for drinks that are spirit heavy, such as the Old Fashioned, Negroni, and Manhattan
