Vodka Slime and all other slimy spooky cocktails at a glance. How to make edible slime at home? And then make cocktails out of it?

Slime Cocktails
Slime cocktails are a very popular class of cocktails that border between spooky, gross and funny, sci-fi, entertaining. Homemade slime, however, is not just for the adults to enjoy, slime can be made for the children too. Let?s first begin with a few recipes to prepare slime at home and then get into slime cocktails.
However, note that not all slime cocktails are actually prepared to be slimy in texture, often the appearance and colour is enough to induce uneasiness or interest, whichever way you feel.
How to make slime at home?
If you want to make edible slime for your cocktails, there are a few things you need to do. First, mix together 1/4 cup of cornstarch and 1/2 cup of cold water. Next, add 1/4 cup of clear alcohol - vodka works well. Finally, add a few drops of food coloring if you want, or liqueurs that have high level of pigments like Midori or Blue Curacao should be good too. Mix everything together and enjoy your slimy cocktail!

Making Slime with half-anf-half
To make slime with half-and-half, the cream and milk combination, all you need in order to make edible slime are:
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions:
1. Heat the half-and-half in a small saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
2. Add the lemon juice and salt, and stir to combine.
3. Add the cornstarch, and stir continuously until the mixture thickens and becomes glossy.
4. Remove from heat, and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
Although when making slime with half-and-half for cocktails, shaking with other ingredients is usually the way to bring the slimy texture to the mix.
Making Slime with Jell-O
The most fantastic recipe however, is with Jello. This edible slime recipe is safe for kids to make and eat. It's also a fun way to incorporate some science into your child's playtime. And, since it uses gelatin, it's a great way to get your kids to eat their fruits and vegetables!
To make this edible slime, you'll need:
-1/2 cup jello
-1/2 cup water
-1 tsp cornstarch
Instructions:
1. In a medium bowl, mix together the jello and water.
2. Add the cornstarch and mix until completely combined.
3. Place the mixture in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up.
4. Once it's firm, let your kids have at it! They can play with it, squish it, mold it, or just eat it straight up.

What is a slime cocktail? why is it popular?
A slime cocktail is a drink made with vodka, gin, tequila, or other alcohol mixed with a sour candy such as Warheads or Sour Patch Kids. The candy makes the drink fizzy and gives it a slimy texture.
Slime cocktails are popular because they are unique and visually appealing. They are also easy to make and can be tailored to each person's taste.
Slime cocktails are most suited for occasions where you want to add a bit of fun and excitement. They are perfect for festivals, parties, and other events where people are looking to have a good time. Just imagine, what an ectoplasmic, alien blood green slimy vodka shot could do to your Halloween party!
Are these cocktails too high on calorie?
Slime cocktails are a type of drink that is made with cornstarch, half-and-half or jello. Some people believe that these drinks are healthy because they are low in calories and fat.
However, there is no scientific evidence to support this claim. Additionally, some of the ingredients in slime cocktails, such as cornstarch, can actually be quite unhealthy. Therefore, it is best to avoid these drinks if you are looking for something that is healthy.
Cornstarch for example, is a carbohydrate that is derived from corn. It is a white powder that is commonly used as a thickening agent in sauces, gravies, and puddings. While it is not unhealthy per se, it is high in calories and can increase calorie intake if consumed in large quantities.
On the other hand, while half-and-half is high in calories and fat, it is also a good source of protein and calcium. If you are looking for a healthy option, choose a lower-fat or non-fat variety.
Jell-O is a type of gelatin dessert that is typically made from sugar, water, and unflavored gelatin. It can also be made with fruit juice, cream, or other ingredients for flavor. Jell-O is generally considered to be a healthy food since it is low in calories and fat. However, it is high in sugar which can be a problem for some people.
Ideally, a slime cocktail without any of these real slime producing ingredients is the best choice if you are looking for lesser calories and shaking a Midori Melon liqueur and other liquors with crushed ice, for example, can render a similar visual appearance The difference in specific gravity between the liquors and liqueurs and the frosting from shaking with ice renders the slimy appearance to these drinks and are more palatable than real edible slime.

Coming to the list, here are the Slime cocktail recipes that are worth a try, be it while ordering at a bar, or planning for a party at home.
Slime
A simple shots recipe that has a strong 9 cl Vodka part splashed with a little Sprite and topped with Lime Juice, the specific gravity difference between the large Vodka and Sprite and Lime Juice does the trick and gives the drink a slimy appearance. Other than the appearance, there is nothing slimy about it and it tastes good and is really strong.
Slime Cocktail
This is a half-and-half recipe that uses Vodka for the kick and Midori melon liquor and cracked ice in a shaker for the slimy effect.
Bayou Slime
Bayou slime is a type of slime found in the bayous of Louisiana. It is often green or brown in color and has a slimy texture. Bayou, for people outside the States, is a marshy outlet of a lake or river, used mostly in Southern United States. The word entered into American English through Louisiana French, and it entered French from the Choctaw word "bayuk", which means "small stream?.
The Bayou Slime cocktail is so true to it?s name and the process makes it such an accurate depiction of Bayou Slime that you?d be surprised and of course immensely satisfied to have created this work of art. Everything from muddling and crushing mint leaves with spiced syrup and then shaking with egg white and the dark rum until it?s muddy and frothy with extra crushed leaves floating on top, speaks a lot about the creative cocktail. Don?t miss out on this, if you are planning to create some slime cocktails at home.
Cold Green Slime
Honestly, this isn?t exactly slimy, the surge citrus soda and vodka mix gives it a swirly texture indeed when stirred with ice cubes and the added sugar adds to that effect. Looks strikingly green and with the sugar, a little slimy, but is probably too sweet if you don?t have a sweet tooth.
Slimer
another Midori and Vodka slime cocktail spin-off. The specialty of this is in the way it?s prepared, pouring Vodka first, then Midori and then carefully pouring of the Sweet and Sour Mix and topping up with 7-Up forces the Vodka to climb up to the top while the heavier sweet and sour will try to move down, giving it a slimy appearance.
Green Slime
This one is a Vodka, Coconut Rum and Blueberry Schnapps cocktail that relies on the Blue Curacao and Orange Juice for the greenish slimy texture.
Slimer's Ecto Cooler
this Malibu and Vodka slime cocktail relies again on the tried and tested (tasted too) Midori melon liquor and 7-Up/Sprite for the floating slime effect. Worth a try indeed. The floating alcohol brings the ectoplasm feel to it.
Glorified 4X4
the last in the list is this that doesn?t have Slime in its name, but this Cointreau cocktail uses Crème de Menthe disturbed by a dash of lemonade to bring that slimy effect to it. A nice cocktail to end the list with.
